Spring Has Sprung!

Dionne Character April 6, 2021

Ladies, it’s time for us to clear our minds as we approach a new season of hope and joy, celebrating Spring, “decluttering,” enjoying the month of April along with the birds and the bees, grabbing some fresh lemonade, replenishing our souls with a good book as we lay in a field of fresh daisies.

Just as we have to throw out the old and replace with new things, we must change our mindset, eating habits and focus-- becoming more aware of the things that will set us free to enjoy a new season. If we never get organized we will never be able to see our full potential.

No matter what stage of life we are at and no matter who we are, we all long to live happier lives, connecting with the universe in finding our true purpose. Maybe it’s time to let go of unhappy people and unhealthy thoughts, which seem to stress our bodies, holding us back from becoming more confident and capable.  Perhaps some of us should practice solitude turning off the television and our cell phones, becoming more in tuned with where we really would like to go and who we really are.  These things will certainly help us become more content with understanding what’s controllable.

It’s time to plant some new seeds.  It’s time to declutter those old thoughts.  It’s time you focus on where you going and not where you’ve been all winter long. It’s time to get a move on and do something fun!

Decide what you want today and start saying “no” to everything else. A simplified life is the key to a decluttered mind and soul.

[F] The World Be Fearless

Dionne Character July 5, 2016

We’re living in a time where Women Run This Mother [F] fearlessly, and while there are still a few of us afraid to find our passion, it never seems to cross my mind that there ain’t nothing I can’t do!

I have always lived a fearless life while focusing on being free enough to fall in love with my dreams. I have always been different and carefree, willing to take a chance on that one thing, in my case, a few things that could bring repeated joy.  It doesn’t matter what the world suggests because I was born with a microphone in my hand wearing a fierce pair of shoes.

We all possess special gifts we can turn into a means of living.  Some of us are stuck and need to reconstruct our lives by distancing ourselves away from dream killers, embracing positive vibes and those creatives who dare to go against the grain of society.

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve heard someone say, “I wish I could find something creative to do.”  It blows my mind because I feel there is something deep down in all of us to create!  Some of us just need to turn off the television or maybe even take a stroll down a quiet lane in order to hear the universe speak.  We should reach deep down, letting go of the tormented thoughts of what others may think, whether or not the children will eat on time, losing, or just simply seeking the approval of a spouse or a friend who may not understand purpose.

This year of 2016, thus far has been Epic!  I’ve done so many things and met so many people on my journey on and off the Red Carpet. I met and interviewed Professor Griff of Public Enemy, Keyboardist, the late Bernie Worrell of Parliament/Funkadelics, hosted behind the scenes for The New Orleans Meters Reunion, performed at The New Orleans Jazz Festival with Bill Summers, brought in the New Year singing background with Deacon John and the Ivories Jazz Orchestra, taught my Creative Writing Program, Preached my first sermon on Easter Sunday, recorded two singles, Renaissance Woman from my last book, WildFlower: Growing From the Muck and What’s Music with Gripbeats, while completing my fifth book, Creola Red: The Men Who Broke My Back.

Part of being successful is “BEING READY,” developing Mantras, and Being Quiet for at least one-hour a day because God in not in the “screaming” business.

I urge you to hold on to the Fearlessness you were born with.  Do something different and give birth to a project; something that will flourish into something dope because you are BRAVE.

Peace at the Venice Canals

Dionne Character September 14, 2014

I spent the day admiring nature in complete solitude without my phone, walking around The Venice Canal Historic District in the Venice section of Los Angeles.  This district is noteworthy for its man-made canals built in 1905 by developer Abbot Kinney as part of his Venice of America Plan.

While I reflected on how beautiful life really is and all the compromises we sometimes have to make to enjoy a peaceful state of mind, I am always reminded that living is full of surprises, compromises and surely whatever our plan is, the Creator's is much larger, more Grand and well put together.

As I strolled around,  I noticed nothing was out of order.  There were a few homeowners walking their dogs and everyone had a smile on their faces.  I witnessed the true beauty that of which we live as we should all know that with peace, there is a sense of joy and completion, all we need to do is take a walk on the quiet side of life.

It's perfectly okay being the little fish in the big pond. It's just fine taking little steps crossing over from canal to canal, just as long as you take your time.

Get out, stretch your legs, find your peace and enjoy walking into the destiny the Creator has designed for you!

California Dreamer

Dionne Character August 23, 2014

Some of us come into the World screaming and some are born Ready for the Stage.  I'd like to think I came into the World in a pair of fierce stilettos wearing Ruby Woo Matte Lipstick with a Microphone in hand.  I have always followed my own Dreams, and while I've pretty much gotten everything I wanted to get accomplished in my career, I am always Taking a Chance on Life because there is always more!

I got in my car and drove to Hollywood, CA from New Orleans, LA along with God.  I wanted and got the chance to broaden my Brand in another city, which added to the list of cities I'd already lived and visited, as a Self-Published Author touring the Country.

In this season, I got more than expected as the Universe gave me the skill of Photography. I had no idea that this gift was ready to be born, as it was something new to add to my Brand which could enhance my list of Entertainment gifts the Creator had already blessed me to have.

I am so grateful that a friend was used to give me a camera as a "birthday" gift, which was totally unexpected.  Now, I can take my eyes and lens behind the scenes, where Chances and Possibilities have been breathtaking thus far.  Whether writing a book, hosting an event or singing in a band, my life never ceases to amaze me.

I am a California Dreamer with a vivid Imagination.
